What this site is for:-

The information presented here is not listed so comprehensively anywhere else.  Also the information is hard to obtain and the Freeview consortium feel you do not need to know most of it.  The Broadcast Television Industry (Ofcom, DTG, DMOL, the broadcasters themselves, the BBC, Arqiva etc) is generally excessively secretive often conveniently citing "Commercial Confidentiality".  Finally the DMOL site and the Freeview website often contain many errors and omissions which this site strives to avoid.

On this site you can find Bitrate Charts and Transport Stream lists for every London Freeview Multiplex as well as detailed Channel Lists of the contents of each Regional Multiplex with LCN or Channel Numbers shown separately.  There are also EPG channel and LCN lists for the Full 6 Mux Service as well as for Freeview Lite Relays with just the 3 muxes.  Even the unique EPG Configurations at the Channel Islands and Ferryside are shown.  There is a large Archive dating back to 2009 of Freeview and Top Up TV News and Comment plus Expected Changes and a Technical FAQ.  Finally there is the "Charts" section which contains a number of Lists and Timetables relevant to the Technical side of Digital Terrestrial Television, such as FEC dates, ITV1 Regional Variations by Platform, Local TV Sites and Dates, Retune Timetable, TUTV Arrangements, UHF Centre Frequencies and Channel Numbers, Hidden Channels, HD Timetable and Channels Exclusive to Freeview from the BBC, Sky and other Channels website.  More will be added shortly.

Please start browsing the site by selecting a topic from the menu on the right side of the landscape and then using the links offered on the tablet below the main text.  You are very welcome.

302 & TV NEWS RE-APPEAR: TV STARS APPEARS

302 the former BBC interactive channel removed from Freeview in 2009, has reappeared on BBC A in the London transmitter group only.  London is mid way through DSO and will be retuning for DSO2 on 18/4/12, thereby guaranteeing 18% of UK households get 302 on their receivers.

At present 302 is only broadcasting data with no visible content, so it is not possible to say what it will be used for.  It could be a replacement for pre DSO 303 or a video channel.  The BBC has stated that 302 will return for the Olympics from 1900-0530, replacing BBC Parliament and the Engineering Channel.  BBC THREE will go 24/7 for the duration.  Parliament does not use enough bitrate to support a sports channel, so today's events may be part of a test to see whether BBC A can sustain an eighth stream or not.

"Coming soon" Mheg captions appeared today at LCN62 for TV Stars on Arq A and LCN90 for TV News on Arq B; both in post DSO areas only.  TV News is a collaboration between Cellcast and Arqiva and has been broadcast before on LCN89 on Mux D from 30/3/09 to 30/6/10.  It closed to allow Al Jazeera to launch on LCN89.  LCN90 TV News 2 popped up on Mux C from 2/3/10 to 30/6/10.  It closed to allow Dave ja vu to launch ....    read more
