302 the former BBC interactive channel removed from Freeview in 2009, has reappeared on BBC A in the London transmitter group only.
London is mid way through DSO and will be retuning for DSO2 on 18/4/12, thereby guaranteeing 18% of UK households get 302 on their receivers.
At present 302 is only broadcasting data with no visible content, so it is not possible to say what it will be used for.
It could be a replacement for pre DSO 303 or a video channel.
The BBC has stated that 302 will return for the Olympics from 1900-0530, replacing BBC Parliament and the Engineering Channel.
BBC THREE will go 24/7 for the duration.
Parliament does not use enough bitrate to support a sports channel, so today's events may be part of a test to see whether BBC A can sustain an eighth stream or not.
